A Master of the Quaich Tastes The Cabrach New Make

Amid the Spirit of Speyside Festival, The Cabrach team hosted an important, longstanding member of our Distillery Advisory Group. Although he preferences maintaining a low profile, his status as a Master of the Quaich sets him apart within the world of Scotch Whisky. On a wet and blustery morning, he arrived to support a milestone new make spirit nosing panel. Where we'll share more detail over coming weeks, here's some early insight we wanted to share with our Collective members first:

"I was struck by how clean the sprit was. In consideration of the worm tub condensers, I was expecting something heavier, although the influence of your very slow, patient distillation is having a wonderful effect. It leads with a very nice, honeyed biscuit character, distinct on the nose and palette.

The spirit has a good weight which offers strong potential to take on character from The Cabrach's wood portfolio.

The lightly peated complexion of the spirit provided very subtle background notes, providing a lovely sweetness, alongside a subtle warmth, capturing the character of a distant bonfire. This is a very complex, but balanced spirit, combining a nice bit of cereal with red-fruit jam.”
