THE LAND OF THE WILD SPIRIT

WHISKY WITH PURPOSE ~ REVIVING A WHISKY TRADITION, REGENERATING A COMMUNITY
A PLACE WHERE WILDNESS LIVES AGAIN

A PLACE WHERE WILDNESS LIVES AGAIN

They called it The Cabrach. ‘A place of antlers and trees’ is the rough translation. Aye, ’rough’. Because nothing ever came easy here. All was hard-earned. The growing of crops and, when abundance allowed, the distilling of whisky too – despite the efforts of the elements and the exciseman to thwart them.

But fallow years followed. People left. Memories faded. Wild seeds flourished in abandoned crofts. Yet the area – ever resilient – refused to yield. And slowly, over time, shoots of change have emerged at this rugged edge of Speyside.

For the wild spirit, at The Cabrach Distillery, lives again. A tale of renewal like no other, written by its own community. Now, the place of antlers and trees, and illicit stills, and stories to tell, is roused once more. Its long sleep is over.

THE FEERING BLENDED MALT ~ SERIES 1-3 THE FEERING BLENDED MALT ~ SERIES 1-3

THE FEERING BLENDED MALT ~ SERIES 1-3

In the North East, a ‘feering’ is the first furrow ploughed, which acts as guide for all the rest.

Whilst you wait for the inaugural release of The Cabrach Single Malt Scotch Whisky, discover our highly limited series-of-three Speyside Blended Malt Scotch Whiskies: The Feering. This a collection curated by Alan Winchester, created with casks hand selected from local Speyside distilleries.

In the 18th and 19th century, the community in The Cabrach mixed farming and illicit distilling with consummate skill.   Farmers and crofters grew bere barley – a hardy crop capable of surviving poor soils, high altitude, and short seasons – and the best of these crops would be kept aside for producing the reputable whisky that The Cabrach became known for.

Over time, that way of life faded. The barley fields were turned to grass and grazing, and the stills that once depended on them disappeared.

At Inverharroch Farm, home of The Cabrach Distillery, we have reintroduced ‘home barley’ to The Cabrach, revitalising another lost tradition of our famed whisky community. Although a small annual harvest, its value is immense serving as another important marker in the regeneration of this special place.

Each release in The Feering series represents a step forward in our journey of revival and regeneration.

Begin your journey with the first edition of The Feering -Early Harvest -a beautifully balanced blend of heather honey, butterscotch and soft ember smoke aromas. Importantly, both the second and third editions in the series, Late Crop and Deep Earth, will be exclusively bottled for members of The Cabrach Collective only.

THE CABRACH COLLECTIVE

THE CABRACH COLLECTIVE

A first of its kind, The Cabrach Distillery, is a Community Interest Company - a social enterprise where 100% of our future profits are reinvested into the regeneration of our fragile community, creating a whisky with purpose.

The Cabrach Collective is more than a membership club - it's our founding community of pioneers helping to bring this forgotten whisky tradition back to life, while directly supporting the regeneration of The Cabrach.

As one of only 1,849 founding members, you will have an inside track on progress at The Cabrach Distillery as we revive the land of the wild spirit. If you are reading this, the chances are that there's a wildness inside you: an inquisitiveness and a passion for both heritage and discovery.

This is a lifetime membership, designed to be passed down generations, that will continue to support and shape the future of The Cabrach and our whisky with purpose mission.
